The popular Netflix series Tires has returned to the Philadelphia area for filming in season 3 of the show.
The series, starring Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, native and former Mantua resident comedian Shane Gillis, was approved for a $6 million tax credit for its upcoming Season 3 production in the Philly region.
According to The Philadelphia Inquirer, Pennsylvania's Film Production Tax Credit Program, administered by the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development, has made the filming possible.
In January, Variety reported that Gillis and John McKeever signed a new overall deal with Netflix, just as production begins on the series in West Chester. The comedy series was renewed for a third season in July 2025.
“Working with Netflix is great, and it'll be cool to shoot season 3 of Tires soon,” Gillis and McKeever said in a joint statement to Variety earlier this year. “Netflix has been nothing but creatively supportive of us. We have a few projects we're excited to make under the Dad Sick banner and, thankfully, it's too late for them to back out.”
In addition to production on Tires, Gillis and McKeever will develop films, series, and unscripted projects, while the agreement also includes two new stand-up specials for Gillis, according to Variety.
The official logline for Tires stated, “Will (Gerben), the nervous and unqualified heir to an auto repair chain, attempts to turn his father's business around despite constant torture from his cousin and now employee, Shane (Gillis).”
Gillis stars in Tires along with Steve Gerben, Stavros Halkias, Kilah Fox, and Chris O'Connor. Thomas Haden Church will return as a Season 3 regular after he appeared in the series as a guest star in Season 2.
