"Sobriety checkpoints are a proactive visual deterrent while also removing impaired drivers," the department said in a statement shared with the Patch. "Roving patrols are traffic details with the main goals to spot and stop possible impaired drivers before they can cause harm to innocent unsuspecting motorists traveling on our roadways."
Authorities urge drivers of legal drinking age to act responsibly and avoid driving if impaired. Residents are advised to read medication labels carefully and arrange a designated driver if they plan to drink.
