The Northern Delaware County DUI Task Force has announced that it will conduct weekend enforcement to target impaired drivers across five Delco municipalities: Haverford, Marple, Newtown, Radnor, and Springfield townships.
According to The Patch of Marple Newtown, police officials frame the initiative as a proactive safety measure. Police will use visible sobriety checkpoints and roving patrols to identify and stop impaired drivers before they can cause harm to others.

Since its formation in 2009, the task force has conducted 123 operations. They have resulted in 190 DUI arrests and 49 underage drinking citations, along with more than 1,300 citations and more than 2,100 warnings for various violations overall.
Police urge all motorists older than 21 to avoid driving after drinking, read medication labels for possible alcohol interactions, and designate a driver if they're consuming alcohol.
