In a state that attracts approximately 43 million domestic and international travelers, there's one dynamic community that has gained attention over the last few years.

In an article for the website The Travel, journalist Mona Bassil highlights the charming Bucks County community of New Hope as one of the top suburbs in PA. From its art galleries to its scenic landscapes along the Delaware River, New Hope offers something for every traveler.

The town's walkable, picturesque streets along the Delaware River attract visitors who want to experience the community's culture, dining, and lodging.

According to Bassil, New Hope boasts a long artistic lineage as an 18th‑century art town with previous Lenni-Lenape roots. It was known as Wells Ferry before being renamed in 1790 following the reconstruction of several mills damaged by a fire.

"Today, this charming Bucks County borough provides picturesque river dining and lodging and is brimming with quirky art galleries and craft shops, gorgeously restored historical buildings, quality eateries, and cozy B&Bs," Bassil wrote. "Its two most popular attractions are the Parry Mansion, which was erected in 1784 by one of the town's founders, Benjamin Parry, and currently houses a museum; and the Bucks County Playhouse, which was founded in 1939 and was graced by icons like Lillian Gish, John Lithgow, Bob Fosse, Dick Van Dyke, Leslie Nielsen, and Grace Kelly."

Those interested in New Hope's more haunted side can explore the historic Logan Inn, where guests have reported seeing figures of Revolutionary War soldiers in the hallways or a young girl in the parking lot.

Additional Experiences in New Hope

New Hope, located at the intersection of the Delaware River and Aquetong Creek, gives guests access to Bowman Hill's Wildflower Preserve as one of the top suburbs in PA. In the spring, the preserve bursts forth in bloom with blue violets, Carolina allspice, and shooting stars.

Around the town, visitors can enjoy hiking, birding, swimming, fishing, kayaking, tubing, rafting, picnicking, and camping. Popular hiking trails include those along the Delaware Canal (New Hope to Washington Crossing or Hendrick Island to New Hope).

After all your outdoor explorations, you can bring your hearty appetite to any one of New Hope's extraordinary restaurants, including the Triumph Restaurant and Brewery, The Salt House, or Bowman's Tavern.
