The YMCA of Greater Brandywine (YGBW) has announced significant infrastructure investments to enhance facilities and improve member experiences across its seven branches throughout Chester County. The upgrades include new strength training equipment, renovated spaces, and expanded recreation areas.

All seven traditional YGBW branches received upgraded strength training equipment this fall. Additional enhancements include the following:

  • EGYM-connected fitness equipment at the Kennett Area YMCA
  • A redesigned lobby and ADA-compliant restroom at the Oscar Lasko YMCA in West Chester (coming in early 2026)
  • A new outdoor pool at the Lionville Community YMCA in Exton, targeted for completion by summer 2026

"These projects represent a significant investment in health, happiness, and connection for the benefit of Chester County residents both now and for many years to come,” said Kim Cavallero, senior vice president of member experience and acquisition, to MyChesCo. “We are proud to make these investments for the community, but especially proud that the projects were selected based upon member and community feedback.”

The outdoor pool at the Lionville Community YMCA will be expanded with extended lap lanes, water features, and expanded space for family activities and swim lessons. It is one of the YMCA's most significant facility improvement projects.

The Jennersville YMCA is unveiling a new multipurpose outdoor pavilion and two pickleball courts to expand summer camp options and support year-round activities, reflecting a broader initiative to enhance community recreation.

“We have seen a growing need for summer camp within our service area, and this new pavilion will allow us to enhance the camper experience,” said Nic Legere, district executive director, in a statement shared with MyChesCo.

To showcase these improvements, the YGBW will host open house events on Nov. 8 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at its Coatesville, Jennersville, Lionville Community, and West Chester Area branches. These events will offer fitness demos, youth programs, and facility tours.
