The coastal New Jersey town ranked third in a list of the top 12 most affordable beach communities in 2025 by the website Realtor.com. According to the website, the average cost of a beach home here is approximately $242,450.
Here's what Realtor.com had to say about the affordability that Atlantic City provides:
"Although best known as the 'Las Vegas of the East Coast' thanks to its many casinos and nightclubs, Atlantic City by now has cemented its place among the nation's most affordable beach towns.
"The city of just under 40,000 people boasts wide, well-maintained public beaches along the Jersey Shore, as well as one of the region's most iconic wooden boardwalks lined with amusement park rides, shops, and snack shacks."
Casinos are plentiful in Atlantic City, with notable names such as the Borgata Hotel Casino, the classic Hard Rock Hotel, and MGM Tower. Spa treatments and top-notch dining options are also available at the city's high-end resorts.
To determine its rankings, Realtor.com economists analyzed a federal database of beaches and their locations before generating a list of coastal communities. These names were then ranked by median list prices in April for single-family homes, which include condominiums and exclude mobile homes.
Only cities with at least 50 active listings for the month were considered to promote adequate inventory. To guarantee geographic diversity, Realtor.com included only two beach towns per state in its top 12 rankings, excluding additional entries from existing states that were listed.
