Rehoboth Beach is pleasant place for a holiday
It's beginning to look a lot like the time to search for this year's Christmas tree in Rehoboth Beach. The City of Rehoboth Beach has announced it has launched its call for the perfect evergreen to serve as the centerpiece for this year's holiday festivities.
According to a Coast TV report, the donated tree will be cut from a donor's property and placed at the Rehoboth Beach Bandstand the week before Thanksgiving. The tree will serve as the centerpiece for the city's tree-lighting and holiday sing-along event, held on Nov. 28, and remain on display throughout the holiday season.
The city is particularly interested in locating a well-rooted tree this year after dealing with challenging pitfalls in 2023 and 2024. According to Coast TV, the tree used in 2023 snapped in half during its installation, forcing officials to problem-solve. In 2024, high winds pushed over the tree shortly before Thanksgiving weekend.
The city seeks a tree that stands between 25 and 35 feet tall, is in good health, and has a pleasing shape. Spruce or Douglas fir trees are ideal, but any well-balanced evergreen will work. Individuals can send photos of trees they'd like to nominate for consideration by emailing Erin Corcoran. Residents can call 302-227-6181, ext. 523, with any questions.
