The Philadelphia Youth Network (PYN) celebrates another year of opportunity for teens. The organization places young adults from the city into temporary job opportunities for them to develop career-ready skills and explore meaningful employment.

Participating youth receive payment for their work and gain a better understanding of career industries.

Action News 6 Philadelphia spoke with one participant, Daniel Douglas of Northeast Philadelphia, about his service at Bebashi. This community organization supports people who need food and other services.

"I learned customer service skills that I never thought I would unlock yet. I will recommend always trying new things, no matter what, even if you think you might not be interested in it. Try it ... never give up on your dreams," he said.

PYN Director of Business Partnerships Michele Gilmore Bey said that the "most fulfilling part of this role is definitely giving young people the opportunity to learn more about what's available and accessible to our community members and even themselves."

According to the organization's website, the PYN collaborates with strategic partners and nonprofit organizations to foster education and employment opportunities for youth and young adults. Through paid "Career Connected Learning" experiences, young people are empowered to gain the confidence and the knowledge they need to succeed in today's competitive job market.
