Two celebrated destinations for Philly cheesesteaks and pizza are expanding along Philadelphia's Main Line.
Gazzos, a favorite cheesesteak spot from Pottstown, opened a new location on the Main Line on Thursday, July 23. The Rocky-inspired establishment fired up its grills at 2528 Haverford Road in Ardmore. It is renowned among Philly cheesesteak fans for its rough cuts of ribeye served with a melted layer of Cooper Sharp cheese.
While the Ardmore location will serve only cheesesteaks and fries at this point, the business aims to expand to include menu items such as a cutlet and roast pork-inspired sandwich. The owners also plan to open a joint bakery with AJ Bread & Bakery to make its own rolls.
Angelo's Pizzeria owner Danny DiGiampietro is expanding his business with a new pizzeria planned for Conshohocken. The expansion builds on his acquisition last year of the Conshohocken Italian bakery, where he and his staff now bake bread for wholesalers and delivery.
In addition to the Main Line, DiGiampietro is also expanding his business interests into New Jersey. DiGiampietro recently bought Di'Nics Roast Pork & Beef in West Collingswood Heights. According to MontCo.Today, DiGiampietro plans to take over and work on rebuilding.
Angelo's South Philadelphia location gained national recognition when Barstool Sports' Dave Portnoy reviewed their pizza on his One Bite Pizza Reviews YouTube series. Portnoy called Angelo's pies “the best pizza in Philadelphia.”
