It's been quite the season for the Philadelphia Phillies. The team has one of the best records in baseball, and plenty of people in Philadelphia have been taking notice.
A Philadelphia Inquirer report noted that the Phillies have worked their way to the top for MLB TV ratings, averaging approximately 325,000 viewers per game within the Philly TV market on NBC Sports Philadelphia and NBC10. This figure places the Phillies ahead of any other team, including 20% more local viewers than the New York Mets.
So far this season, the most-watched Phillies game of the year has been Opening Day against the Washington Nationals. This game averaged approximately 560,000 viewers, according to statistics from The Inquirer.
For fans who prefer to use streaming services to catch the Phils in action, they're in luck. The Phillies have at least three more games this season that will be streamed exclusively via two popular streaming services.
Apple TV+ will feature a Friday Night Baseball matchup with the Phillies taking on the New York Yankees in the Bronx on Friday, July 25. The second Apple TV+ game is Friday, Aug. 29, when the Phillies take on the Atlanta Braves at Citizens Bank Park.
The Phillies also have one game scheduled to stream exclusively on the Roku Channel. An Aug. 17 matchup will pit the team against the Washington Nationals. Unlike Apple TV+, which costs $9.99 a month, the Roku Channel is free to stream.
MLB commissioner Rob Manfred told CNBC this week that Apple TV+ is one of at least three bidders for ESPN's Sunday Night Baseball package next season. NBC and ESPN, which opted out of its broadcast rights package earlier this season, are also in the bidding.
