Market Street in Camden will buzz with art and pride on June 12. From 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., the third Downtown Camden Art Crawl meets the city's 5th Anniversary Pride Walk.
"The growth of the Downtown Camden Art Crawl is indicative of both the city's burgeoning creative class and its growth as an arts and culture destination," said Kristine Kennedy, Camden Special Services District executive director, to Broadway World.
The free street fair spans three blocks from 2nd to 4th Street. Local shops open their doors as makeshift galleries, where artists show and create works. Music fills the air while food trucks serve up treats, and children find fun at every turn.
Starting at 3 p.m., Pride Walk participants will step off from the Camden County Police Department, located at 800 Federal Street. Their path ends at Roosevelt Plaza, where they join the art festivities.
Among the skilled makers, Ernest Ford turns discarded items into striking pieces. Terina Nicole Hill shapes fine leather into wearable art. Painters Felicia Biles and Jemel Balkman bring color to life, while Kiona Golden-Moton crafts eye-catching jewelry.
Guests can park for free at 2nd and Cooper streets. Ron Do's Food Truck and Taqueria Lopez offer tasty bites. Mylestone Catering dishes out samples, and Iron Lion Karate will have demos throughout the day.
At 3rd and Market streets, IDEA Center for the Arts hosts live shows. SoundEVR kicks things off, followed by Tony Perez & The Latin Wave. The Kids' Corner at 213 Market Street will have painting, drawing, and chalk art for kids of all ages.
