After only a few years of operation, the Amazon warehouse in Bensalem is expected to close its doors by the end of the summer.
According to a PhillyBurbs.com report, the Amazon distribution center at 3750 State Road, near Interstate 95, originally opened in response to customer demand during the COVID-19 pandemic.
A company spokesperson Steve Kelly confirmed with the Patch of Bensalem that since the company has opened several new, built-to-suit facilities in the area, its Bensalem facility is now obsolete.
Kelly noted that the closure would not impact Bucks County customers. Employees at the Bensalem delivery station are being offered opportunities to transfer to one of 10 nearby company facilities.
Amazon further noted that it is working closely with its employees to accommodate scheduling and transfer requests during this time. It expects that its Delivery Service Partners currently operating at Bensalem will transfer to nearby facilities.
Bensalem isn't the only location that Amazon has either built or leased in Bucks County during the past several years. Two facilities exist in Levittown in addition to others in Bristol and Falls Township. Amazon also maintains a fulfillment center in northeast Philadelphia.
According to PhillyBurbs.com, when the Bensalem delivery hub opened in 2020, Amazon stated that it would create approximately 350 jobs for the region, with 100 designated specifically for warehouse workers.
