During Monday night's Philly Opener celebration, the Philadelphia Visitor Center Corporation awarded its "Most Valuable Philadelphian" honor to Eagles Executive VP and GM Howie Roseman. The notable recognition came from Comcast Spectacor.
His work with the NFL team has made Philadelphia a dominant force that gets attention worldwide. Starting in 2000, he began as an intern, working on complicated salary cap math.
"I bleed for this city," said Roseman at the Eagles Championship Parade in February.
Beginning as an intern, he climbed the ranks quickly. By 2003, he was heading football administration. Three years after that, he became VP. When Tom Heckert headed to Cleveland in 2010, Roseman took over as GM.
He's earned two NFL Executive of the Year awards. Even better, he engineered the team's first Super Bowl victory. Last year, he brought a second Super Bowl victory to Philly.
The stats speak for themselves: six division titles while he's been in charge. Since he took control back from Chip Kelly in 2016, the Eagles made the playoffs in 7 of the 9 seasons, made it to 3 Super Bowls, and won it all twice. They are also tied with the 4th-best record in that time.
As other teams go up and down, the Eagles stay on top. His talent for spotting players and managing money has created a winning team in the City of Brotherly Love.
