The Cape May County Bridge Commission will transition to cashless all-electronic tolling for its bridges beginning Saturday, May 10. Tolls will be charged through an E-ZPass tag or Toll-by-Plate.

Here's what you need to know about the transition to cashless tolls:

Drivers with an E-ZPass Tag

Drivers with a valid E-ZPass tag in their vehicles will have their tolls automatically debited from their E-ZPass accounts. In this case, drivers must make sure their accounts are in good standing so that they do not receive toll bills. Motorists should verify that the license plate on their account is correct.

Drivers Without an E-ZPass Tag

Drivers who don't have a valid E-ZPass tag in their vehicles will receive a mailed bill for their tolls on Cape May County Bridges, approximately within 30 days. At the time of the transaction, a photo of the vehicle's license plate will be captured, and the plate number will be used to locate the vehicle's registered owner information.

What Will Happen with Bridge Tickets?

Beginning May 10, the Bridge Commission will no longer accept Bridge Tickets as payment. Therefore, the Commission is offering a buyback on any unused tickets. Drivers who purchased Bridge Tickets will receive a refund at the last sale price of $1.20 per ticket returned.

To receive payment for purchased Bridge Tickets, complete the online form and return the tickets by June 30 in person at the front desk security, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, or by mail to Cape May County Bridge Commission, 4 Moore Road, Cape May Court House, NJ 08210.

Transactions for Bridge Tickets for buyback will not be completed at the Commission's bridges. The Commission will process unused tickets and mail payments to customers. Individuals are asked to allow up to 30 days to receive payment.

For questions, contact the Commission at 609-465-7806 or email kerri.may@co.cape-may.nj.us.
