Empty Atlantic Club Casino Hotel Could Get New Life in Redevelopment as a ‘Condo-Tel’
The former Atlantic Club Casino Hotel in Atlantic City, which has been vacant for more than a decade, could be getting a new life as a “condo-tel.”
Rocco Sebastiani, president of Colosseo Development Group, said a plan being overseen by the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs calls for the property to be reimagined as a “condo-tel.” One tower of the building would become a 330-room hotel under either the Hyatt or Hilton brands. The second tower would contain 108 residences, ranging from approximately 1,700 to 3,300 square feet.
This proposal is the latest in a series of development plans that have been discussed for the property over the years.
In other Atlantic City news, Visit Atlantic City announced on Wednesday, Feb. 5, that it had completed the marketing integration of the DO AC brand and its assets under the Visit Atlantic City umbrella. Officials announced the news during the Feb. 5 Visit Atlantic City Annual Meeting.
In an interview with NJBIZ, Visit Atlantic City President and CEO Gary Musich commented that the recent integration work with the Visit Atlantic City brand would unite the organization’s communications and marketing efforts under one voice. The website, visitatlanticcity.com, will be promoted as the go-to resource for activities, events, and news.
““There’s been a push for this for a while,” Musich said. “We eventually had the right plan in place — and we are consolidating that effort. For so many reasons, messaging is important — branding. Atlantic City is working on perception issues that have been developed due to a lack of messaging. No news is not always good news. So, this is going to help that. We still represent and support all of the properties — all of the businesses.”
