A ship is about to start cruising out of a Philadelphia port and it is going to change the way we vacation. The fact we can start taking an Uber or have someone drop us off at the cruise terminal at a Philadelphia port, board the amazing ship, and enjoy an incredible trip to Bermuda is exciting. What a treat!
Philadelphia Cruise to Bring Jobs
Not only is it going to make vacationing easy - no flights, trains, etc. The Philadelphia port is also expected to bring over 2,000 new jobs to the region and $40 million in annual revenue. Hopefully, this also means more people will come to Philly to leave from the city rather than fly to Florida.
"This means tourism travel to our city, jobs for our workers at PhilaPort, and simply put, broader economic opportunity for Philadelphia," Mayor Cherelle Parker said in a statement.

Philadelphia Cruise Makes for Easy Travel
Norwegian Cruise Line announced they will soon offer trips from Philadelphia. The Jewel ship will begin picking up passengers from The Port of Philadelphia starting in 2026. With the brand new park that is going to connect Front Street to Delaware Ave, and now cruises leaving out of a Philadelphia port, we are becoming quite the destination.
Sean Mahoney, senior director of marketing for PhilaPort, said they are "developing a facility in the SouthPort Marine Terminal complex." The Norwegian Jewel is expected to port in Philadelphia 24 times from April to October and will alternate homeports between Philadelphia and Quebec City.
Norwegian Cruise Line is an American cruise line founded in Norway in 1966, incorporated in Bermuda and headquartered in Miami. It is the fourth-largest cruise line in the world by passengers, controlling about 8.6% of the total worldwide share of the cruise market by passengers as of 2021.
