Earlier this week at the Eagles mandatory minicamp, Nick Sirianni couldn’t help trolling Giants fans. We have seen that Sirianni, unlike almost all other head coaches in pro sports, engage with opposing fans a lot in the last three years.

We have loved it when the Eagles are winning, but not liked it as much when they are losing. I want to try to be consistent, so do we like that Sirianni is a troll or not? I want you to decide.

Nick Sirianni The Troll

I can see both sides of the argument. On the positive side, Nick Sirianni appears to be a natural troll. People do their best work when they are being themselves. Sirianni is a different individual. He may be a weird guy, but he is also very intense. Intensity can boil over from time to time and that is okay.

Eagles’ fans travel well, so I am sure he gets swept up in the emotion on the road when he sees us jawing back and forth with the opposition. We talk a lot of trash, so it makes sense to a point that our coach would as well. Plus, despite the collapse, he had made the postseason the last three years. He has been a successful troll.

Should Head Coaches Act That Way?

The flip side of the argument is that should any head coach waste his energy on trolling period. Coaching 53 adult men, and a large staff is a full-time job. NFL head coaches miss family time, they sleep in their offices. (why don’t these offices have beds, btw)

If the job is that all consuming, should you be trolling at all? How does it help anything? What other successful head coach is doing that? Andy Reid doesn’t do that. Phil Jackson didn’t do that.

While he has been successful, he hasn’t won a Super Bowl yet. He meanders often and appears unfocused at times. He is supposed to be a leader, can a guy be a great leader if he is allowing what fans say to move him in any way?

So, what do you think? Should Nick Sirianni be trolling or not? Do we like it or dislike it? Is it a waste of energy, or is it just letting off steam?
