One Night Without A Home. A number of people will be experiencing that on Thursday night, November 17th in Montgomery County. The "Sleep Out" event is organized by the Norristown Hospitality Center, and held in support of those experiencing homelessness and poverty. A night outside, in mid-November, in support of those who spend nights on end outdoors with nowhere to go.

Where:

On the steps of the Montgomery County Courthouse

2 East Airy Street, Norristown, PA 19401

When:

Overnight - Thursday, November 16th 7:00 PM -  Friday, November 17th 7:00 AM.

The Norristown Hospitality Center is an outreach facility in Norristown, Pennsylvania that provides free assistance to those who are experiencing homelessness and poverty.  Last program year, the Center assisted over 1,100 unique individuals.  Currently, the Norristown Hospitality Center is the only location in Montgomery County that provides on-demand social services.  The center's small staff works tirelessly to help over 100 people daily. They are open daily from 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM.

The Norristown Hospitality Center provides basic needs, social services, and health and wellness programs.

Basic needs, such as:

  • breakfast
  • showers
  • mail services

Social services, such as:

  • case management
  • rapid rehousing
  • mental health referrals
  • addiction referrals

Health and wellness services, such as:

  • a monthly health clinic
  • bi-monthly HIV/STI testing
  • weekly opioid recovery programs

The Norristown Hospitality Center is open 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM daily, but this event that they are holding is in the off hours, when many people have nowhere to go. No safe, warm environment to spend the night. That's what this event is about. To raise awareness for those experiencing homelessness and poverty, and allow the general public the chance to show solidarity with those folks and build hope.

Participants in the Sleep Out on Thursday, November 16th are asked to Register, Fundraise, Sleep Out, and in doing so - Change Lives.

The event will include a candle light vigil, a rally, a letter writing campaign, and testimonials from those who have experienced and those who are working to end homelessness.

Anyone over the age of 18 is invited to join in on the “One Night Without a Home” Sleep Out.  Those who are under 18, may register and participate virtually that their home, school, or faith community.

All money raised will directly impact the Norristown area homeless population. If interested in participating, please register HERE. There is a Frequently Asked Questions page set up with more information (like what to bring with you) HERE.
