Pennsylvania Vineyard Named Among The Best Fall Wineries
Fall just feels like the right time to be at a vineyard. The Travel named the best wineries to visit on the East Coast this fall, and a Pennsylvania spot was named among them. “September and October is peak season for harvesting the grapes in many parts of the country, and the vineyards take on a golden hue that enhances the magic,” The Travel explains.
Furthermore, many of these wineries listed offer tours, tastings, and their own bottles of wine for you to bring home. If you are looking for an adventure or group activity in the autumn air, this winery has everything you need. In fact, they are even holding a derby next weekend (September 30 and October 1).
Penns Woods Winery
Located at 124 Beaver Valley Rd, in Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania, Penns Woods Winery opened in 2001. The Travel explains that this vineyard “proudly produces 100% Pennsylvania-grown award-winning wines.” Though their concept started in 2001, they officially opened to the public in 2006 as just a small tasting room. Today, this is a 30-acre property with a wine shop, tasting room, and membership club options (three different levels).
It is also a common place for fun events and music. Their “Throwback Thursdays” have food trucks onsite, plus live music. On Sunday afternoons, you will find $5 “Sangria Sundays” from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Lastly, the aforementioned Derby event at one of the best Pennsylvania wineries is among their biggest weekends of the year. This also includes live music, food trucks, tons of wine, and of course, horses.
In terms of wine coming out of Penns Woods, they make and offer red, white and rose. In total, there are 14 different blends. You can indulge in a tasting during the tour options to embark on. They are typically held over the summer months and cost only $10. Over 30-45 minutes, you will walk the stunning property, learn all about the wine-making process, and then have the option to get a wine flight and souvenir glass that has the logo of this Pennsylvania vineyard that was recognized for being one of the best wineries on the east coast.
