Pennsylvania: What Is Our Most Popular Car?
J.D. Power recently published a report on the most common car sold in each state. Presently, the most popular car in Pennsylvania happens to be a compact SUV.
There are numerous factors involved in deciding what car you want to buy. The most common purchasing decisions include budget, insurance costs, occupation, and family size. “By looking at the most popular vehicles sold by the state, you can get a better idea of what car models are well-suited for your state’s unique geography and culture,” J.D. Power says.
Forbes recently explained how car ownership has increased by 3.66% between 2017 – 2021. Furthermore, “Most U.S. households (91.7%) had at least one vehicle in 2021 (the latest data available), and 22.1% of households had three or more vehicles,” the Forbes piece explains.
In J.D. Power’s feature, they show a pickup truck to be the top choice in 26 different states. Of those, 16 states preferred the Ford F-150 truck. However, the remaining 14 are a mix of sedans and SUV’s. In Pennsylvania, a trustworthy vehicle takes the crown.
It sometimes seems like every other car on the road is a Jeep Wrangler, a family-filled Chevy Suburban, or a pick-up truck of some variation in the Keystone State. Surprisingly, none of those are the most popular car (and most purchased) in Pennsylvania.
It’s The Honda CR-V
“With the state’s high population density, many drivers are looking for a vehicle that can comfortably accommodate their families and cargo while still being easy to maneuver in tight urban spaces,” J.D. Power explains. The Honda CR-V is certainly practical. For example, with current gas prices averaging $3.83 for regular ($4.27 premium), this crossover is equally as cost-effective as it is efficient.
The 2024 CR-V starts at $30,825. In addition, there is an EV hybrid model available. It would appear that drivers in Pennsylvania are making a smart choice with this vehicle being named the most popular car in the state. For example, Car and Driver recently said, “The CR-V is our favorite in the highly popular compact-crossover segment, even amid stiff competition from the Mazda CX-50, Volkswagen Tiguan, and Kia Sportage.”
