Bryce Harper Gives The Media Little League Team Some Advice After Being Eliminated From Little League World Series
No one can take away what the Media Little Team accomplished from them. This was the first team from Media to make it to the Little League World Series since the 50s. They made it there via a walk-off HR that broke up a no-hitter. They got to meet and hang out with Phillies players like Bryce Harper and Trea Turner. But unfortunately, that run came to an end for them Sunday. They had kept their hopes alive on Saturday with a win in an elimination game. But the next day they fell to Rhode Island, officially ending their LLWS journey. And while that ending sucks for the kids of Media, it does not change the fact it was a fantastic run, and something each and every one of them should be proud of.
The Phillies were in Williamsport for that final game to play in the Little League Classic that night. So even with the loss, it was a true role reversal for the young kids of Media. Instead of them being in the stands cheering on guys like Bryce Harper, it was Bryce and his teammates cheering on them. The Phillies players in the crowd were going crazy when Nathan Hellberg hit a game-tying single in the 5th inning.
Sadly, they ended up losing anyway. But after the game, Bryce Harper had some great advice for the young team.

The gist of the message was this is an opportunity to grow and learn. Yes losing sucks. But as he puts it “it is a stepping stone to being great.” Bryce got a bit choked up talking to them. And when he joined the booth during one of the Little League games he spoke about how watching them play impacted him as a father.
Good on Harper for taking the time to lift the team’s spirits. And good on Media Little League. This was not the result they wanted. But just getting there is an accomplishment worth celebrating.
