Get excited, because Philadelphia has another champion on its hands. Meet the adorable kid from the Philadelphia suburbs who won the National Mullet Championship. 6-year-old Rory from Montgomery County has been named the 2023 Kids Mullet Champion.  He won the Mullet Championship on Wednesday (8/16), beating out other kids across the country.

Not only did he win $5000, but he's become quite the Philadelphia celebrity.  "He was invited to the Phillies game and he got to meet with John Kruk and talk mullets," says Airen Ehrlich, Rory's mother. "Rory now thinks that John Kruk is his bestie."

RORY EHRLICH – CHEDDAR WIZ - POTTSTOWN, PA

A year ago, Rory hopped into the barber's chair demanding a mullet. His mother was shocked, but knew her only response was to say "yes".On that day, Rory's mullet was born. You can find his mullet rounding 3rd base with all that shiny "cheddar" blowing in the wind. When his mullet is not on the field, it's out doing farm chores with his cows. Usually paired with homemade jorts, a Philadelphia sports jersey, and a Whiz Wit. It's not just a mullet, it's a lifestyle.

If you think you'd like to enter the mullet competition, you can.  They have an age range from kids all the way to 55+!

Here are the details from MulletChamp.com:

First, you get to vote for your favorite mullet. Whether it’s a classic business-in-the-front, party-in-the-back style, or a modern twist on this iconic haircut, we want to know which one takes the cake. Each vote you cast will count towards the overall score of the contestant.

We’re not just here to admire great hair, we’re also here to make a difference. That’s why we’re partnering with Jared Allen’s Homes for Wounded Warriors, a charity that helps provide homes for our wounded veterans. For each donation made on behalf of the contestant of your choice, we’ll contribute to the overall score of that contestant. So not only will you help choose the winner, but you’ll also help raise money for a great cause.
