Meghan Trainor is reflecting on a "huge" chapter that took place while pregnant with her first child. Trainor, 29, explained in a recent appearance on Today with Hoda & Jenna how staying on antidepressants while pregnant was a "big debate."

The "Made You Look" singer, who is expecting her second child with husband Daryl Sabara, recalled feeling "so much shame" after her son Riley was born. At the time of his birth, nurses implied that he came out "sleepy" because she was taking antidepressants during the pregnancy.

"It was a big debate. Do I stay on my antidepressants or not? It was very safe," Trainor told the hosts. She added that all of her doctors approved it, besides her first OBGYN. He told her, "'Oh, you can throw those candies away,'" Trainor recalled. "I was like, devastated."

When Riley "came out asleep," Trainor panicked. She told the staff, "'Wake him up, like what do you mean?' Some people were like, 'Oh, it's because you were on your antidepressants.'" The singer-songwriter then called her doctors to hold them responsible for their medication clearance. She said, "'You said nothing would happen!' And they said there's no science that backs that up, they're just pointing fingers."

Once she realized this, Meghan recalls feeling "so much shame" on top of her "crazy surgery" and being on "all these drugs" to give birth. She added, "I feel miserable, and to get pointed at to say it's your fault that your kid's asleep." However, the doctor who performed her C-section told her how the procedure is "gnarly" and that Riley experienced trauma coming out. To ease her conscience, he assured her that it happens all the time. "'It's unpredictable and you did nothing wrong,'" he told Trainor.

While appearing on The Kelly Clarkson Show Tuesday (April 25) with her husband, Trainor revealed via her adorable son that her second baby would be a boy.
