Philadelphia Phillies ‘Should Definitely Be Proud,’ Look Ahead to Next Season
It was a heartbreaking loss, but the Phillies impressed the world during their World Series run. The Astros took home the prize in game six, but that doesn’t make us less proud of our Phillies. They’re proud, too. The good news is that most of this team will be entact for next year.
“We should definitely be proud,” said Kyle Schwarber of the Phillies during a post-game press conference. “What went on through this whole year, how we got there, to see how this team came closer and we got into the playoffs, and the bond got even closer after that.
“We ran into a very good club. We should definitely be appreciative and proud of what we did. And the other thing is, there’s a thirsty taste now. That’s the positive. It’s going to be a quick off-season and everyone is going to have that taste in their mouth.”
“In the beginning of the year if you asked a bunch of people, or baseball specialists, if they thought we would be in the World Series, they probably would have said no,” Nick Castellanos added. “So the fact that we were able to do this collectively as a group and get this close, we were two wins away from being the best team in North America. It’s just a building block. And now you look at all the young kids here and also veterans, too, that now have this postseason experience and it’s only a good thing moving forward.”
Rhys Hoskins says he’ll look back at this season and remember “how much fun we had with each other, man. I don’t know. There’s a lot of talent in this room, but I don’t know that this is necessarily the most talented team anybody’s ever seen. But I think we found ways to come together as a team when we needed to the most throughout the season, and in the postseason, time and time again. I think that’s what all of us should be most proud if, just figuring out what an actual team feels like and how powerful that can be in some of these big moments.”
