LumiNature at the Philadelphia Zoo Lights Up This November
LumiNature returns for another season of breathtaking sights, sounds and surprises from Thursday, November 17, 2022 to Saturday, January 7, 2023.
With more than a million twinkling lights across 14 one-of-a-kind artistically illuminated zones, LumiNature is sure to wow adults and children alike as they take a magical journey celebrating the wonder of wildlife and the beauty of our planet during the holiday season. The full scale light show takes over the entire zoo and features dancing lights, a 21 feet tall colored snake, 100 foot long aquarium tunnel, hundred of lighted penguins, a Wilderness Express Train, and so much more.
“This year’s LumiNature is like no other,” said Philadelphia Zoo Chief Experience and Marketing Officer Amy Shearer. “Because the holidays are an important time to come together and reconnect with those important to us, creating an experience that celebrates and honors such precious time together has been our design inspiration. We have great new areas to explore coupled with some big fan favorites, all geared toward inspiring every age…from grandparents, to parents, to kids and grandkids.”
New this year LumiNature will feature a Penguin Prismatic show featuring a 40 ft. tall penguin glowing with 40,000 lights, a new finale called Animale Fantasia, and an immersive experience that will make your feel like you’re in the heart of Africa in Twilight Savanna.
LumiNature is a nighttime experience, with timed entrance tickets available every half hour from 5:00pm to 8:00pm. All guests must pre-purchase timed-tickets at philadelphiazoo.org/luminature. New this year, for a limited time only, purchase any-time tickets for just $33 for the ultimate flexibility. Prices vary by visit date. Tickets for adults ages 12+ are $25 to $28, children ages 2-11 are $20 to $23, and children under 2 years old are free. Zoo members receive discounted tickets.
Philadelphia Zoo is located at 3400 W. Girard. Parking is available in nearby Zoo parking lots for an additional cost.
LumiNature first debuted in November of 2019, and represented the first evening and holiday program in Philadelphia Zoo’s long history. The inaugural event drew tens of thousands of enchanted visitors. While plans were in the works for a sparkling return in 2020, the Zoo took a one year break during the pandemic. In 2022, the Zoo broke records with all the holiday visitors and tickets are already on sale for the new holiday season.
