Billy Idol is putting the call out to fans to help with an upcoming documentary about his life and career.

Idol shared via social media, "Do you have vintage Billy Idol video footage or photos from the '70s, '80s, '90s or '00s in your personal archives? If so, we'd love to see it for possible inclusion in an upcoming film project!"

The social media post instructs fans to go to BillyIdolFanFootageSubmission.co.uk. Once there, there are all sorts of instructions on how to upload photos/video along with various disclaimers.

News of an Idol documentary was first reported in August. The film will be based on the singer's 2015 memoir Dancing With Myself and is being helmed by Jonas Akerlund. Akerlund has won three Grammy Awards for his work on music films and video.

Akerlund said to Variety, "I told Billy, ‘This is a film… We need to tell this story.' What incredible timing Billy has had in his career. He was there when punk-rock happened in London, then moved to New York just as MTV was exploding, and now he’s in Los Angeles. I personally love his story, the incredible events in his life. And the music has touched so many people."
