Pennsylvania Tour Ranked Among Nation’s Spookiest
Pennsylvania has some very creepy areas, so it’s not a big surprise that a new ranking has one Keystone State experience listed among the nation’s scariest.
The study comes from Tripadvisor.com, who has been on the hunt to find the nation’s best-rated spine-chilling experiences. “October is here, so it’s time to dust off the pumpkins and get ready for Halloween,” they state in the study. “In the lead up to fright night and in the spirit of all things paranormal, Tripadvisor has rounded up a list of the best-rated spooky tours in the US to try out this month (or anytime if you have a penchant for ghost, ghouls, witches and murderers!).” They add, “From a deep dive into the locations front and center in the Salem Witch Trials to a haunted tour of Savannah’s local ghosts, these are THE creepy but very fun experiences to try this Halloween, according to travelers who braved them themselves. Book one, if you dare!”
The No. 1 experience in all of America, according to Tripadvisor, is “History & Hauntings of Salem Guided Walking Tour” in Salem, Massachusetts. “There are many Salem tours out there but this is the only Travelers’ Choice winner, led by a local historian who brings alive the city’s history at the time of day you choose,” they state. “For a spookier experience, pick a nighttime tour led by lantern light. Visit the Burying Point Cemetery, Witch House, and Ropes Mansion garden as your guide tells stories of the haunted history of Salem, Massachusetts.”
So, which Pennsylvania experience is on the list? The Dark Philly Adult Night Tour, coming in at No. 7. “Leave the kids at home, because this night tour of Philly is strictly R-rated,” they warn. “Be led along the darker streets of the city, hearing stories of hauntings, executions, vampires, and other chilling tales. See the city’s beautiful historic buildings lit up at night, and find out facts about them that you won’t hear on standard daytime tours.”
