Vince Neil Upcoming Solo Show Canceled, Venue Issues Statement
Vince Neil, who made headlines following losing his voice during a solo show last month, has canceled his upcoming June 18 show in New York.
Per a Facebook post from venue Batavia Downs, “Batavia Downs Gaming & Hotel announced today that due to circumstances beyond their control, the concert on June 18th, 2021 will no longer feature Vince Neil. Batavia Downs hopes to welcome Vince to Batavia Downs next summer. On June 18th, 2021, Batavia Downs will now welcome Mark Farner’s American Band to the Rockin’ The Downs Summer Concert Series.”
The post also stated, “Please note that tickets purchased for the Vince Neil concert will still be honored on that date. Those wishing for a refund may do so through their point of purchase…Please note that any comments on this post that use profanity or degrade any artist will be removed and you will be banned from our facebook page.”
Neil cut his May 29 show in Boone, Iowa short with the set hitting barely 14 songs. It was the Motley Crue frontman’s first solo show in nearly two years. Neil was singing the Crue hit “Girl, Girls, Girls,” struggled during the first verse and ended up bowing out telling the crowd, “Hey guys. I’m sorry, you guys. It’s been a long time playin’. My f—in’ voice is gone. We love you and we uhh… hope to see you next time, man. Thank you.”
Motley Crue is slated to be part of “The Stadium Tour,” which also features Def Leppard, Poison and Joan Jett & the Blackhearts. The tour was originally set for the summer of 2020 but will now be taking place in 2022.
Def Leppard guitarist Phil Collen said of Neil cutting his set short last month, “Hey, look, he’s got a year. There’s a lot at stake when you go out. You want to be your best. Hopefully, we’ll be working out together and all that stuff. That’s the other thing — we do have a camaraderie, especially with Motley Crue. With Nikki [Sixx], we were talking just before the tour [was announced], like, ‘We’re gonna work out together. We’re gonna do all this stuff.'”
