The Classic Arcade Game ‘Frogger’ is Heading to TV
The classic video arcade game, Frogger, is being turned into a physical competition series for Peacock.
The NBC Universal platform has ordered 13 episodes from producer Eureka Productions. The series will feature 12 obstacle courses where contestants will try to conquer the courses to win a cash prize.
According to Polygon.com, Frogger contestants will also have to “leap over snapping gators and hop over hungry hippos to conquer the course.” Presumably, those wild animals will be simulated as part of a relatively safe obstacle course in the vein of Wipeout, Most Extreme Elimination Challenge, and American Ninja Warrior — in part because Peacock pitches its new game show as “a wild, whimsical Frogger world.”
The 80’s arcade game developed by Konami became extremely popular among players and now has more than 30 titles across various platforms.
So if you are a fan of the classic and would love the opportunity to be cast for the Frogger series, you’re in luck. There is a website where you can sign up to be a contestant. You must be atleast 18 years old and have a valid passport because the show is filming in Australia. Thinking “sign me up”? Then head here to fill out your information.
