Cottonelle Wipes Recalled Over Possible Bacteria Contamination
If you currently have Cottonelle Wipes in your bathrooms, you might want to check the package dates. Per the company’s website, there has been a recall of some of its products due to bacteria contamination.
Kimberly-Clark has recalled Cottonelle Flushable Wipes and Cottonelle GentlePlus Flushable Wipes manufactured between Feb. 7 and Sept. 14. They explain that those products may contain Pluralibacter gergovaie, a fairly common household microorganism that can cause infections.
In a statement about the recall, the company says, “Individuals who have a weakened immune system, suffer from serious pre-existing conditions, have been treated surgically, or belong to another sensitive group of persons are at particular risk of infection. At this time there is a low rate of non-serious complaints, such as irritation and minor infection, reported for the affected wipes.”
Kimberly-Clark added that the recall has nothing to do with COVID-19.
