AMC Is Planning On Opening Most Theaters In July
AMC has announced that they plan on opening most of their theater locations in July. In a statement, AMC Entertainment CEO Adam Aron said, “These are truly unprecedented times. We are confident we are taking the necessary steps on a broad array of fronts to ensure AMC’s future success as we navigate these turbulent and uncertain times.”
Per Deadline, this comes after the company recently announced that it had losses of $2.18 billion in the first quarter of the year due to the coronavirus pandemic. When AMC does open, it will implement new social guidelines for employees and guests. They include:
- Maintaining close contact with officials to understand and coordinate requirements under which they can reopen.
- Consulting with faculty from Harvard University School of Public Health for guidance on how best to create a safe environment for our guests and associates. This will include using personal protection equipment, following new cleaning protocols, limiting theatre capacity, and having blocked seating.
- Looking at high tech solutions to aid in sanitization, including the use of electrostatic sprayers, HEPA vacuums, and upgraded MERV 13 air ventilation filters.
- Establishing a protocol partnership with the Clorox Company so they can advise on making the theaters as safe and clean as possible.
