In honor of Dr. Seuss’ birthday today, Upper Dublin Township Police Department posted a clever Dr. Suess-like poem to their Facebook page, reminding everyone how to drive safely.

The Upper Dublin Township Police Department’s “Drive Safely” Dr. Seuss poem was posted along with a great photo-shopped image of the Cat in the Hat sitting in the driver’s seat of an Upper Dublin Police Department Vehicle.

“Today is the birthday of old Dr. Seuss,
so we thought we would put this here post to good use.
To remind everyone of how to drive safely,
since it seems some drivers have forgotten how lately.

It isn’t that hard, it’s quite easy to do.
Stop signs mean stop and red lights do too.
And although it should probably go without question,
speed limits, in fact, are not just a suggestion.

Passing a school bus is just not that great.
That will get you a license suspension you’ll hate.
And speeding in school zones is almost as bad,
that will get you 3 points that you’ll wish you’d not had.

Please remember that people can not read your mind,
so using your turn signals sure would be kind.
And that car in front of you, please give it some space.
We’ll all get where we’re going, it isn’t a race.

Don’t text while you’re driving.
Don’t check on that tweet.
Take your eyes off your phone
and keep them on the street.
And speaking of safety, seat belts do the trick.
Just pull it on slowly and push ’til the click.

We hope these reminders will help while you drive,
and you’ll get where you’re going in one piece and alive.
And if ignoring our tips is what you wish to do,
perhaps we will have a citation for you. ????‍♂️???????? #drseuss #copinthehat #greeneggsanddonuts ”

Note the great hashtags after the Upper Dublin Township Police Dr. Seuss Poem. Green eggs and donuts sound great to me!

Lisa Feldman commented on the post in rhyme: “Your creativity is so very clever.
You are the best in every endeavor.”

Today is National Read Across America Day, celebrating the life and legacy of Dr. Seuss and his many children’s books.
