Rod Stewart Reveals Secret Battle with Cancer, Says He’s in Remission
Rod Stewart revealed he’s been secretly fighting prostate cancer for the past three years but announced the cancer is in remission.
Per U.K.’s The Mirror, Stewart talked about his cancer battle during a fundraising performance benefitting the Prostate Project and European Tour alongside former Faces band members Ronnie Wood and Kenney Jones.
Stewart addressed the people in attendance and said, “Two years ago, I was diagnosed with prostate cancer. No one knows this, but I thought this was about time I told everybody. I’m in the clear, now, simply because I caught it early. I have so many tests…If you’re positive, and you work through it and you keep a smile on your face…I’ve worked for two years and I’ve just been happy, and the good Lord looked after me.”
To add some levity to the announcement, Stewart then playfully said, “Guys, you’ve got to really go to the doctor. Finger up the bum, no harm done.”
Well, that certainly is one way of thinking about it. Regardless, Stewart’s clean bill of health is certainly outstanding news.
