Certain spots in Camden, NJ (and in any city really) are often filled with garbage and subject to dumping. Video footage shows trucks pulling up, and people emptying couches, appliances, and even animals out the back of a truck and onto the street.
Officials in Camden hope to change people’s attitudes by having artists reclaim and beautify the spaces most affected by illegal dumping. This new program will pay for artists to transform these spaces, and hopefully inspire change. Vacant lots that were an eyesore will soon be art for residents and visitors to enjoy.
If you’re an artist and interested in becoming involved, check out anewviewcamden.com for more information. The artist application deadline is August 28th, 2019.
Can’t wait to see the finished spaces!
