Steve Perry Calls Off Court Date Related to Lawsuit About Old Demos

Steve Perry was due in court on June 25 regarding a lawsuit related to a former collaborator wanting to release old demos from the 1990s, but the singer has since called off the court date and has agreed to mediation on the matter.

Per The Blast, the former Journey frontman recorded a number of demos decades ago with musician Phil Brown. At the time, Perry paid Brown $1,500 to record the demos. Brown, who says he has physical and creative control over those demos, was going to release them around the time Perry released his solo album, Traces. Perry's initial lawsuit wanted to block Brown from releasing the demos because they were of low quality and not intended for release. Perry's lawsuit also claimed Brown was "...seeking to confuse and mislead Perry’s fans and the consuming public into believing that Brown is associated with Perry when he is not."

Mediation is set to take place later this month.
