Rock Hall Accidentally Blasts Music Late at Night in Downtown Cleveland
As the saying goes, if it’s too loud, you’re too old…or it’s 2 AM, and you’re just trying to get some sleep.
The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Museum in downtown Cleveland has decorative speakers called “rock boxes” scattered around the city that emit a playlist of Rock Hall inductees during the day hours and stay silent during the night. However, according to Fox 8 Cleveland, earlier this week a select number of “rock boxes” malfunctioned and played in the wee small hours of the morning some of which were near a Hampton Inn, whose guests were none too pleased.
Some of the songs blaring from the “rock boxes” late at night were Red Hot Chili Peppers’ “Give It Away,” Jackie Wilson’s “(Your Love Keeps Lifting Me) Higher and Higher,” The Byrds’ “Turn! Turn! Turn!” and R.E.M.’s “Losing My Religion.”
A rep from the Rock Hall has since issued the following statement apologizing for the noise:
“The Rock Hall’s Rock Boxes wanted to rock and roll all night but they’ll have to party all day instead. Our engineers have established that a ten song list was stuck on repeat and played at standard volume last night. We’ve identified and fixed the issue and the Boxes are back to operating strictly during the day. Our apologies for any inconvenience.”
