For the first time since 2015's Rebel Heart, Madonna is back with a new album, and she's bringing a new persona along for the ride.

A potential concept record of sorts, Madame X is both the name of the new album and its central character. In a video announcing the album, Madonna says,  "I decided to call my record Madame X. Madame X is a secret agent traveling around the world. Changing identities. Fighting for freedom. Bringing light to dark places. Madame X is a dancer. A professor. A head of state. A housekeeper. An equestrian. A prisoner. A student. A mother. A child. A teacher. A nun. A singer. A saint. A whore. And a spy in the house of love. I'm Madame X."

A release date for Madame X has yet to be announced, but fans won't have to wait too long for new music. Madonna recently collaborated with reggaeton artist Maluma on the track "Medellin," and it is set for release tomorrow (April 17.)
