U2 Visitor Center/Museum Approved For Construction

After much negotiation, Dublin City Council has finally approved of a U2 Visitor Center/Museum that is estimated to attract 390,000 fans annually.

Per reports from RTÉ and The Irish Independent, the center will be located at Grand Canal Quay on the south side of Dublin and will feature tourist information, as well as exhibits detailing U2’s history.  Among the exhibits planned thus far include a recreation of the kitchen from Larry Mullen Jr.’s childhood home.  That kitchen served as the first meeting place for U2 when they first formed in 1976.

The site of the visitor center/museum is currently the home of U2’s primary recording studio, which is set to receive some upgrades during this construction process.  As of now, it’s not known if U2 will continue to use the studio for recording future projects or if it will become one of the proposed exhibits. However, it would be pretty great if the band continues to record there, even among tourists.
