Mott the Hoople Announce U.S. Tour, First Since 1974
For the first time in 45 years, Mott the Hoople will be heading to the United States for a mini-tour of eight shows.
Per Rolling Stone, the tour will feature frontman Ian Hunter, guitarist Ariel Bender and keyboardist Morgan Fisher. Bender hasn’t played with the band since 1974, and thusly, the group is being billed as Mott the Hoople ‘74.
Hunter issued a statement on the tour that reads, “Both toured extensively with Mott and both were featured heavily of The Hoople album after Mick Ralphs and Verden Allen left the band. I know many people were disappointed when neither appeared on the 2009 and 2013 get-togethers. Hope this makes up for it!
The tour, itself, kicks off April 1 in Milwaukee and makes its way through Minneapolis, Chicago, Detroit, Cleveland, Glenside, Pa. and Boston before wrapping in New York City on April 10. Tickets go on sale Friday, January 25 at 10 AM local time at Ticketmaster.com.
Now if you’ll excuse me, I’ve got to go drink a lot of wine and start feeling fine because of this great news.
