Friday the 13th! (10/13)

6th Annual Northern Liberties Zombie Crawl- 8pm to 2am at the Piazza at Schmidts Commons (1001 N. 2nd Street). Infection starts at 8pm. Free corpse paint and zombie drink specials at 5+ bars. Trick or Treat Train Rides at New Hope Ivyland Railroad. Children of all ages are invited to test their bravery on this 45 minute train ride. A children’s halloween story will be read on the train, gift bags will be given out, and trick or treating will take place after the train ride. Costumes are encouraged! Regional Candlelight Vigil- 142 lives are lost everyday to overdose. If you have been affected by this epidemic, join us for a candlelight vigil to raise awareness and remember the lives lost to addiction. Featured speakers include Justin Phillips, the founder and CEO of Overdose Lifeline Tara Conner, Miss USA 2006, and Mike Newall, Philadelphia Inquirer Columnist. The vigil will take place at 6pm at Camden Waterfront Stadium (401 North Delaware Avenue, Camden, NJ). To learn more or to register your loved one to be honored at the event:

RetroCon (10/14-10/15)- Obsessed with all things nostalgia? This convention is for you! For two days, over 200 tables of toys, collectibles, art, and more will fill up the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center at Oaks and $15 on Sunday. Free parking!

Manayunk Harvest Fest- Bring your family and friends for an all Fall themed event that will feature traditional fall activities such as pumpkin carving and a scarecrow contest. 4312 Main St. BYO Blankets and chairs!

The 4th Annual Philadelphia Alternative Taxidermy Contest. A wonder filled evening of taxidermy show and tell, presented by The Strange and Unusual Oddities Parlor.  At the Ruba Club in Northern Liberties, on Saturday October 14th at 7pm. AIDS Walk Philly- It’s the 31st year for the walk and 5k run that raises money for the AIDS Fund. 6:30 am at the Philadelphia Museum of Art (26th St. and Benjamin Franklin Parkway). FREE.

Winter Cat Shelter Building at ACCT Philly- Does it make you sad to see all the cats around the city with no home during the winter months? You can do something about it! ACCT Philly (located at 111 W Hunting Park Ave) is hosting this free to attend event sponsored by Philadoptables. You can build a cat shelter for FREE – all materials provided. Harvest Fest 2017, 12pm-3pm at Bartram’s Garden (Community Farm and Food Resource Center at Bartram’s Garden) A FREE family-friendly event with: pumpkin carving, cider pressing, garlic planting, hayrides, food workshops, paddling on the river, and a concert from 3-6pm following the festival!
