Update On Rock Hall Fan Vote
Bon Jovi, the Moody Blues, Dire Straits and the Cars are leading the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame fan vote according to the first tally released to the public.
Bon Jovi is leading far and away with 122,466 votes, followed by the Moodys at 86,246, Dire Straits at 83,820, the Cars at 72,014 and Eurythmics at 48,361.
The Moodys, Dire Straits and Eurythmics are among this year’s nine first-time nominees, but Moodys bassist John Lodge tells us the group is taking a wait-and-see attitude about the proceedings:
“It’s early days. We have to see what happens, you know? It’s a nomination. I don’t really know how these things work after that, so just to be nominated at this stage is fabulous.”
The fan vote will go on through December 5 at RockHall.com, with the top five vote-getters tallied to create a “fan’s ballot” that will be added to the more than 900 ballots cast by music professionals.
The Rock Hall’s class of 2018 will be announced in December, with the ceremony taking place April 14 in Cleveland and filmed by HBO for subsequent broadcast.
