TRAILER: ‘Eric Clapton: A Life In 12 Bars’
The new documentary Eric Clapton: A Life In 12 Bars, won’t start showing Showtime until February 10, but an official trailer has just been released in conjunction with its September 17 premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival.
The two-minute and five-second clip announces “He loved the blues. And then he lived them” and features footage of Clapton throughout his career and commentary about his music, his battles with drug and alcohol and the horrific death of his four-year-old son Conor during March of 1991.
“I knew that I was different, and I didn’t know why,” Clapton says early in the trailer.
The film was directed by Lili Fini Zanuck, who had Clapton’s full cooperation — including access to his personal archives. B.B. King, the Yardbirds, Cream, Blind Faith, Derek & the Dominos, George Harrison and Clapton’s ex-wife Patti are also referenced in the trailer.
Though retired from touring, Clapton will be laying four shows starting Wednesday (September 13) at The Forum in Los Angeles.
