Details on New Robert Plant Album
Robert Plant will be bustling around our hedgerow again this fall.
The Led Zeppelin frontman has announced an October 13 release date for his next solo album, Carry Fire, and has released the first track, “The May Queen.”
Plant and his band the Sensational Space Shifters recorded the set — Plant’s 11th solo album and follow-up to 2014’s lullaby and…The Ceaseless Roar — at studios in England and Wales, including Peter Gabriels‘ Real World facility.
The Pretenders’ Chrissie Hynde duets on a cover of “Bluebirds Over The Mountain,” which was previously recorded by Richie Valens and the Beach Boys.
In a statement about the album, Plant says that, “It’s about intention. I respect and relish my past works but each time I feel the lure and incentive to create new work. I must mix old with new. Consequently the whole impetus of the band has moved on its axis somewhat, the new sound and different space giving way to exciting and dramatic landscapes of mood, melody and instrumentation.”
Plant and company will support Carry Fire with a world tour kicking off during November in the U.K. and heading to “all corners of globe from thereon.” Dates will be announced soon.
