Latest Release Date Buzz On U2’s New Album
Do we now know the release date for U2‘s next album?
The Irish Sun is reporting that Songs Of Experience, the follow-up to 2014’s Songs Of Innocence, will be released on December 1, which is also World AIDS Day, in conjunction with frontman Bono‘s AIDS charity RED. A single, “You’re The Best Thing About Me,” is expected out on September 8.
The U2 camp, however, has not confirmed that report.
Songs Of Innocence, you’ll remember, caused controversy when U2 issued it as a free download for iTunes users, some of whom were not able to excise it from their libraries if they didn’t want it. There’s no word on how Songs Of Experience will be distributed.
Bono did issue a statement recently saying that he hoped to have the album out before early 2018 but added, “Don’t listen to me.”
U2 is currently on a break after the European leg of its Joshua Tree Tour 2017, which resumes September 3 in Detroit, followed by shows in the U.S. Mexico and South America through October 25.
