Neil Young To Stream Entire Musical Archive
Neil Young has announced new future plans for the continuing release of his Archives collection.
After releasing the massive box set The Archives Vol. 1 1963-1972 during 2009, Young has announced via his web site that he plans to make his entire archive available for streaming online via his new Xtream service, accompanied by an interactive timeline and with regular updates.
Young says in a statement that, “Every single recorded track or album I have produced is represented. It is always current. You can browse the music I made between today’s date and 1963, when I made my first recording in Canada…”
The archives will feature both audio and video material, while the timeline will give fans access to credits and session details. Young did not announce a start date for the streaming, however.
Young also announced a September 8 release date for Hitchhiker, an album he recorded during August of 1976 but never released, though several of its songs surfaced on subsequent albums.
