Former Molly Hatchet Frontman Jimmy Farrar Recovering From Multiple Heart Attacks
These have not been the best of times for former Molly Hatchet frontman Jimmy Farrar.
Farrar, who was with the Southern rock group from 1980-82 — including the platinum album Beatin’ The Odds and its follow-up Take No Prisoners — has suffered three heart attacks since May 17, according to a message from his wife, Elizabeth Farr on a new GoFundMe page seeking assistance with medical expenses.
She writes that Farrar suffered the subsequent two heart attacks before successful bypass surgery was performed on May 23 at Atlanta’s Piedmont Hospital.
Because of having to care for the singer, she lost her job and the family now has no income; She writes that, “Jimmy’s recovery is coming along, but it is still slow. In order form him to actually come to our house, I must complete some repairs and be able to buy groceries. Without my paycheck, this is looking dubious…We are rich in love, family, and friends, but cash-poor.”
The Farrars have set a goal of $3,500, more than $2,500 of which has been raised so far. After leaving Molly Hatchet, Farrar worked with the bands Predator and Section 8 and was part of the Southern Rock All-Stars.
