Petty, McGuinn, Crosby Guesting on New Chris Hillman Solo Album
Byrds and Flying Burritos Brothers co-founder Chris Hillman is getting a little help from some famous friends on his next album.
The singer-bassist’s Bidin’ My Time, his first album in more than a decade, comes out September 22 and features guest appearances by Byrd mates Roger McGuinn and David Crosby, along with Tom Petty, who produced the set.
Petty also enlisted Heartbreakers members Mike Campbell, Benmont Tench and Steve Ferrone to play on the album, while Herb Pedersen, who co-founded the Desert Rose Band with Hillman, is serving as executive producer.
The set features new versions of the Byrds’ “The Bells Of Rhymney” (with Crosby and Pedersen), “She Don’t Care About The Time” (with McGuinn), “Old John Robertson” and “Here She Comes Again,” along with a cover of Petty’s “Wildflowers” and the Everly Brothers‘ “Walk Right Back.”
Hillman and Pedersen will be touring together this fall, starting September 21 in Sellersville, Pa.
