NEW YORK, NY - OCTOBER 06: Lindsey Buckingham of Fleetwood Mac performs on stage at Madison Square Garden on October 6, 2014 in New York City; NEW YORK, NY - OCTOBER 09: Christine McVie of Fleetwood Mac performs on NBC's 'Today' at the NBC's TODAY Show on October 9, 2014 in New York, New York.

Fleetwood Mac’s Lindsey Buckingham and Christine McVie hit the road tonight in Atlanta to kick off a 15-date tour supporting their recently released duo album.

It’s the first time the two have recorded and worked together as a duo, and Buckingham tells us fans going to the shows can expect to hear both the new and the familiar:

“As with any band or artist that has been around for as long as we have, they’d probably run you out on a rail if we didn’t do a certain amount of the things that are more well-known from the body of work. So we’ve tried to strike that balance. We are doing, like, eight out of 10 new songs, so that’s kind of cool…And obviously, you know, we’re throwing in some Fleetwood Mac and other things as well. And hopefully it adds up to something. It’s hard; We’ve been working on this for awhile.”

McVie adds that she and Buckingham have every intention of making sure plenty of their Fleetwood Mac music is represented during the concerts:

“Well, obviously we’re gonna have to do some grand pieces. We’re planning on doing quite a lot of the new stuff, because that’s the reason we’re going out on the road. And hopefully there’ll be enough press that people will be excited about it and knowing fully that they’re going to have to expect some new material and some older stuff and an acoustic section where we strip down some songs in kind of like an unplugged way…And then ending with some older stuff — ‘Go Your Own Way,’ obviously. We’re doing ‘Landslide’ and ‘Everywhere,’ You Make Loving Fun’ and then ending with a couple new ones.”

The “Lindsey Buckingham and Christine McVie” album came out on June 9, with the Fleetwood Mac rhythm section of drummer Mick Fleetwood and bassist John McVie playing on the album but not the tour.

Buckingham and McVie will tour through July 27 in Denver, while Fleetwood Mac regroups for two The Classic festival shows on July 16 in Los Angeles and July 30 in New York.
