Jimi Hendrix Park Opening June 17
Jimi Hendrix fans in Seattle will have a new spot to kiss the sky from this weekend.
Jimi Hendrix Park opens on Saturday (June 17), on a 2.5-acre site located at the Northwest African American Museum in the city’s Central District. One section of the park, known as Little Wing, has been open since October; The full 2.5-acre site will include a “grand” endrance and stairway featuring Hendrix’s signature, a walkway chornicling his life and career that includes etched lyrics to “Little Wing” and “Angel,” a variety of new plantings and a butterfly garden.
Janie Hendrix, CEO of the family-owned Experience Hendrix label, will preside over the ribbon-cutting at noon PST on the 17th, with a variety of local artists set to perform throughout the afternoon.
