U2 Pays Tribute to Chris Cornell During Bonnaroo Headlining Set
U2 used the Bonnaroo Music Festival stop of its Joshua Tree Tour to again pay tribute to the late Soundgarden singer Chris Cornell.
The group dedicated “One Tree Hill” from The Joshua Tree album — itself written in memory of an Australian friend of the band’s — to Cornell’s daughter Lily during its show on Friday (June 9), with Bono telling the crowd that “Her dad had an epic heart.” U2 also gave wide-ranging props to women during a performance of “Ultraviolet (Light My Way),” showing photos of Rosa Parks, Michelle Obama, German leader Angela Merkel and more on the video screen while the band played the song.
U2 is in North America through July 2, returning on September 3 in Detroit after a trek through Europe during July and August.
